Why I chose Confinement Center over a Nanny or Maid

I began to do my research on confinement during the 2nd month of my pregnancy as I've read in forums to book a stay-in-nanny as soon as possible in the early stages of our pregnancy.

So then... I joined EDD Mommies Whatsapp group, FB mommies page as well as reading up on various forums to begin my search on where to find a good nanny.

As my research progresses... there were more and more horror stories about people who hired nannies and some were so bad that it resulted in their babies ending up in the ICU. For mommies who prefers to hire nanny will have to prepare a list of questionnaires for interviewing nannies. I thought it was such a hassle to do that and plus as we all know... it's really hard to tell if someone is up to our expectations just from interviewing them. How about hiring nanny through Word-of-mouth? Some mommies feedback that they hired a particular nanny as reviews were great or their friends have highly recommended it to them. However when it came to their turn, it just didn't turn out as good as they wish. Additionally a few feedbacked that the gem nanny that they have hired say 2-3 years ago; when they hire back the same nanny for their next kid, the nanny's attitude just wasn't as good as before.

Haix... knowing all these stories gave me nothing but headache lar. 

So then... my search for nanny ends here and I decided to try looking out for a Maid instead. Long story cut short, my research for hiring a maid is pretty much the same as hiring a nanny. It will be out of Good Luck if one manages to somehow hire a good maid / nanny.

Now.. I'm only left with 2 options.

1) Confinement Center
2) Handling our newborn entirely by ourselves (without parents / parents-in-law help)

The Mr at home and I had a thorough discussion on the above 2 options. We weigh the pros & cons for each option with Option 1 - having everything well taken care of for us and I can focus on my body recovery for 1 month; although it may cost more for us both. 

Option 2 - We can purchase confinement meals and get it delivered over to our home daily for 1-2 months and hire a part-time cleaner. Meanwhile, of course we have to attend some courses to be able to know how to handle a baby well on our own. 

End up... after considering it for about 1 week or so, we decided to go for Confinement Center.

And that is how my search for Confinement Center began! I research a few centers both in SG & Malaysia. Ultimately, our choice of center goes to....

LYC SOG Mother & Child Centre
(A confinement center in Johor Bahru)

One of the reasons for us choosing this center is because LYC SOG is partially a Singapore brand. It is a Joint Venture of SG - SOG Health and MSIA Award Winning LYC Mother & Child Center.
