Summary of confinement centers in Singapore & Malaysia JB
In my previous post (click here to read), I shared my views on why I decided to go for confinement center over hiring a stay-in-nanny, maid or handling confinement entirely on our own as First-Time parents.
It is said that the First Month after delivery is crucial for mothers to recuperate properly for both physical body recovery as well as emotional recovery after a tough 10 months of carrying baby in our womb. It is also a good time for us to adjust to our new lifestyle of having an additional member at home.
I heard one Taiwanese nanny of more than 20 years of experience who said that Woman who do proper confinement will be able to maintain our Youth a lot better. Which also contributes to looking younger as we age.
One month may not sound like a long time. However, one should not underestimate this time of proper rest for moms. I have personally witnessed some friends who did not do proper confinement and they ended up having depression for a very long time. Not only did it affected their mental health, it leads to a chain reaction which affected the relationship between them and their baby, their husband as well as family and friends around them.
Benefits of Confinement Centers
The main benefit of doing confinement in a professional center are plentiful. It serves as a One-Stop center where everything is well taken care of for parents and baby.
There is a wide range of services such as postpartum recovery support, lactation consultation, nutritional healthy meals, professional nursing care for infants, postnatal massage, pleasant environment for proper rest, and more.
It will be a good idea to start researching on your preferred choice of reputable confinement centers once you know you are pregnant. Because you got to factor in both the time for researching as well as going for physical tours. It can be rather time consuming.
Best to make a reservation to the center of your choice (by paying a small deposit) by the 3rd or latest 4th month of pregnancy as slots can be limited.
Some centers do offer Full Refund of the deposit should *touch wood* something goes unwell with the pregnancy.
Singapore Confinement Centers
After the Mr and I decided to go for confinement center, I first started out my research on the centers in Singapore. There are more confinement centers coming up in SG. Mr Tang and I went on a physical tour for one of them too - My Queen @ Sentosa.
Shown below is a brief summary of confinement centers in Singapore. I can only provide more info on The Queen though as that is the only center I went to for a physical tour.
Our physical tour at My Queen gave us a really good impression and we were actually ready to go for it. As my husband very much prefer me to do my confinement in SG instead to save the hassle of all the logistic arrangements like making baby passport and etc.
I managed to convinced him to at least give me some time to find out more about the confinement centers in Malaysia before making payment. He agreed to give me some time and my clock starts ticking.

Malaysia - Johor Bahru Confinement Centers
One can easily search for a good number of confinement centers in JB via google. After looking at some pictures and reading the centers reviews on google & fb, I narrowed down my choices to these 3 centers in the end.
1) Ladies Paradise Confinement Center 女人天地陪月中心
2) LYC SOG Mother & Child Centre - RM18,000 onwards
(Joint-Ventured entity partnered between Singapore O&G Ltd and LYC Healthcare Berhad)
3) Muzi Confinement Centre 母子月子中心 - RM13,888 onwards. 40days confinement available too.
Honestly, my choice of center in JB will be Muzi confinement center, unfortunately the Mr is not too keen. I like the fact that this center offers a 40day package and this will provide me with an extra 12 days of rest.
Among the 3, he is only keen in option #2 - LYC SOG Mother & Child due to the fact that LYC rooms looks more like a hotel stay plus it is in a partnership with SG medical entity. So then, I went on to arrange a physical meeting with the sales person who is station in SG. They do have an office here at Orchard area - Wisma Atria Mall.
If you have read my previous post, you would have already known our choice of center.
We thought we would have just go for My Queen which is located in SG. However, we ended up choosing LYC SOG Mother & Child Centre.
I will share my experience with LYC in my next post. As I have not given birth yet, the next post will be based on things like how responsive they are, the service level, things provided in LYC and why we ultimately chose them.
