A Singaporean FTM who chooses to do her confinement in Malaysia JB

---------------------------------------

As a FTM in my late 30s (39 this year) who only manages to conceive in Dec 2022, my husband and I were overjoyed when we found out about my pregnancy late last year.

We got married 8 years ago and I was only 31 back then. The plan was to enjoy our 二人世界 romantic couple world for a few years before having a child. A few photos of us having some fun in our mid 30s.

Perhaps we were too optimistic and thought that getting pregnant is a - do a few times and strike thing; since both our fertility reports were very healthy with no issues. However as I got older at 36/37, my AMH (ovarian egg reserve) downgraded to a Normal-Low level. I started to panic for a while. So... perhaps this is the factor that delayed my pregnancy and I felt as though this has to be my fault.

Anyway, all is good now and here we are waiting patiently for the arrival of our precious son. He will be here in about one month time.

Our Confinement Center Choice - Why Msia instead of SG?

Continuing from my previous post on Why we ultimately choose to do my confinement in Malaysia instead of SG. The first physical confinement center tour we went for is My Queen located in Sentosa; where we both had a pretty good impression of. However since it is our very first tour, we had nothing to compare to.

Moving forward to the 2nd physical meeting with the sales rep of LYC SOG Mother & Child, where the sales person did a very detailed presentation of what their confinement center offers. From here... we are able to compare the 2 centers in mind.

Note: I wish I am able to explore more physical tours in order to widen my choices. The Mr at home dislike going for such tours. So normally on my end... I tend to spam read a lot of reviews first and hand-picked a few; in which after that I will do up a short pitch to the CEO at home and we will discuss what to do next.

SG - My Queen vs Msia LYC SOG Confinement Center
.:. Our Observations .:.

SG - My Queen @ Sentosa (Website)

Price: S$18,888 onwards
Consists of 3 meals (2 confinement meals + one buffet breakfast from Oasia Resort), No In-house kitchen, Confinement meals are outsourced from 3rd party, Rooms are located in the resort itself - hence transportation of baby from nursery to rooms has risk of covid exposure since the walkway is open to public, No parental class but they do offers tips to parents on how to take care of baby.

MSIA JB - LYC SOG (Website)

Price: RM18k onwards
Consists of 5 confinement meals, Has their own In-house kitchen, consist of separate lift for staffs (no way for public to enter) to transport baby from nursery to rooms, a SG-Msia confinement center, consists of prenatal online class, offers classes taught by professionals to guide parents how to take care of baby.

The rest of the services provided by both centers such as doctor visits, lactation support, wellness activities, good environment, family photoshoot, etc... are rather similar.

All in all, definitely LYC SOG win hands down in terms of their services, and even more so after conversion to SG $. With that in mind, we contacted the sales rep Angeline to come over to our place to sign the contract and make a down payment to book a confirmed slot.

More stuffs that we like about LYC ....

Customer Service from LYC SOG (Pre-Birth)
I have zero complaints about their services so far. Their response are always rather quick and Angeline has always been very professional as well. Whatever queries we had in mind, she managed to answer us with great detail.

24/7 Nursery
I like the fact that LYC nursery is equipped with 24/7 surveillance system. Each baby crib in the nursery room will be equipped with a 1-to-1 private CCTV and can be accessed online by parents to observe our baby at any time.

Nurses here are well-trained and qualified to ensure parents the best care for our newborn baby. There will be daily health recordings of our baby's progress (such as milk intake) as well.

LYC SOG - Parental Workshop
In order to provide parents with useful knowledge for our newborn, LYC do provide parents with an up-to-date Monthly schedule that shows all the workshops that one can go for during our stay. For certain classes like eg, Emergency Infant Care - Both moms & dads will be able to attend the class and learn together.

To let you have an idea, here are some of the workshops they provide:

- Nutrition in Breastfeeding by Nutritionist
- Feeding & Nutrition for Infants by Nutritionist
- Bathing Baby by Nurse

I have covered a huge chunk of what this confinement center offers. Of course, the real and true judgement will only come when I am actually there to experience it in person after giving birth.

For sure, I will provide an update about my own personal experience at LYC in 2-3 months time. Hopefully, my experience will be as good as whatever has been pitched in theory so far.

*FYI: I am NOT sponsored by LYC SOG Mother & Child Center. Though I wish I am! Lolx..

  2. I stayed with my wife at LYC in JB, experience was very good! You can consider hiring an external vendor in JB for photoshoot too! I did mine there, and the vendor actually came into our room with all the accessories, though you need to pay for COVID tests for the photographer etc.
